The YearBeyond Libraries Programme is a partnership between YearBeyond and the City of Cape Town and Western Cape Government Library Service. The programme supports libraries as community centres of learning and focuses on building a culture of reading amongst children. YeBoneers in these libraries work as reading champions with a particular focus on children between 3 and 6 years old.
Reading Champions facilitate interactive reading sessions for children in the library and surrounding ECD centres.
Youth also create educational, library-based exhibitions and do community outreach initiatives.
When not busy with the above, youth support library staff with general day-to-day operations.
You can apply for the YearBeyond Libraries Programme if:
You are 18-25 years old.
You live near one of the libraries where the programme is implemented.
You are passionate about reading and enjoy working with children or have skills in ICT.
Meeting these eligibility requirements does not guarantee selection for the programme. To be considered, you must meet the eligibility requirements and complete the entire application.
