Description

The Hub Primary Schools Programme is a coaching initiative that establishes school-based sport hubs in two designated areas.

Each hub consists of six primary schools and one high school, supported by locally employed youth coaches stationed at their respective schools.

These coaches deliver daily sport and activity sessions during school hours, implementing the Learn to Move and Keep Active programmes.

Additionally, they provide after-school coaching, coordinate competitive fixtures, and serve as consistent role models within their communities.

 AIM of this programme:

  • Children in these communities face limited access to consistent, high-quality sport opportunities and clear development pathways.
  • Participation often drops when programmes require learners to leave their community or transition between unconnected interventions.

The hub model addresses this by embedding coaches directly within schools, reducing barriers to access and creating a stable, locally rooted pathway from early primary through to high school.

This approach strengthens continuity, increases participation, and builds trusted community leadership through locally employed youth coaches.
