The Department of Tourism, in partnership with South African National Parks (SANParks), is recruiting unemployed young people for the Tourism Monitors Programme 2026/27.

This exciting opportunity aims to provide unemployed youth with workplace exposure and skills development within the tourism, hospitality, and conservation sectors. Applicants must stay within a thirty (30) kilometer radius of the participating sites and surrounding communities and land claimants.

The stipend is based on a maximum of 23 days worked per month.

• Applicants should be South Africans between the ages of 18-35
• Have a Matric Certificate 
• Certified ID copy
• Proof of Residence (Municipal Bill, Letter from Tribal Authority, or any other relevant proof of residence document)
• Beneficiaries who have previously participated in the department's learnership or skills programs should declare it in the application
• Be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends, public holidays, and after-hours when required
• Have an interest in Tourism, Hospitality, and Customer Service
• People with disabilities are encouraged to apply
• Applicants must have a clear criminal record
• Successful participants may be required to perform duties aligned with SANParks operational requirements.
• Candidates may be required to complete a fitness assessment, including: a 2.4 km run,
  25 push-ups and/or 25 sit-ups within a specified time
• Successful candidates will be required to undergo a medical fitness assessment by a registered medical practitioner.

NB: All short-listed candidates will be subjected to an interview to determine their suitability for the position(s) applied for. All appointed candidates will be subjected to criminal record checks.
