We are looking for a motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Intern. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in promoting and enforcing health and safety standards in various work environments. If you hold a relevant qualification and have a keen interest in compliance and safety inspections, we encourage you to apply.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in conducting inspections to monitor and enforce compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993), relevant regulations, and incorporated standards.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to OHS Inspectors.
  • Support in the investigation of incidents and complaints reported under the OHS Act.
  • Assist inspectors during enforcement actions.
  • Participate in the preparation, compilation, and consolidation of reports arising from inspections and investigations.

Requirements

A three (3) year tertiary qualification in one of the following fields:

  • Environmental Health
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechatronics Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Chemistry
  • Construction-related Engineering
  • Occupational Health
  • Occupational Hygiene
  • Analytical Chemistry
  • Explosives Management
  • Explosives Engineering

NB: (Qualification must be at NQF Level 6 – National Diploma or NQF Level 7 – Bachelor’s Degree.)

Shortlisted candidates will be requested to submit their updated CVs, a certified copy of their identification cards, and qualifications. You will be required to complete Z83 on the day of the interview.
